Somerville is a city in Burleson County, Texas, in east-central Texas. With a population of about 1,300, it is best known as the gateway to Lake Somerville, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir that anchors outdoor recreation across the region. The city's history reaches back to the late nineteenth century, when the community was established around 1883. The city is served by Somerville ISD, which operates the community's public schools, and its everyday life centers on local businesses, churches, and the lake that lies just outside town.
