The legend of the Hutto Hippo dates back to 1915, when a circus train stopped in the city, and a Hippo escaped. Luckily the streets are safe now. So what is going on, everyone? My name is Brandon Holley, and I am the broker at Holley Homes Realty here in Austin, Tx, and your new home expert. We will venture North of Austin today to check out a community built by Meritage Homes. My favorite thing about Meritage Homes is their efficiency in this Texas Heat. We will get to that later, but first, let's jump into some information about the model home and community. 

• Hutto is 28 miles northeast of Austin and was recently recognized as the top place to raise a family. 
• Cross Creek has two sections. The meadows are built on 45-foot lots, and The Hills are built on 50-foot lots. 
• Homes are starting in the high $300's. There are 13-floor plans to choose from, ranging from 1477 SqFt to 2700 SqFt. 
• Meritage is the only builder in the community. What sets Meritage Homes apart is how efficient their homes are compared to other builders. • Within the neighborhood, you have a 3.5-acre park, community pool, and covered pavilion. The park has a few disc golf holes and a great open space for sports or leisure activities. 
• Outside of the community, you have Hutto Lake Park, Old Settlers Park, and the Dell Diamond is close.
• There is also a splash pad, trails, and this awesome playscape. 

Another great thing about cross creek is you are part of Hutto ISD, which has a student-teacher ratio of 16-1. So let's explore the schools a little more. 

• As I mentioned, students will attend Hutto ISD and attend Hutto elementary, middle, and High school. 
• The school district has 8,700 students. 
• Hutto is still a small town, so all the schools are within 3 miles of the community. 
• Fun Fact Hutto is the only school with a Hippo as its mascot. 

• Here are a few key distances for you. Since Hutto is growing rapidly, you can imagine new places will continue to pop up.
• Hutto is situated right off of the 130 toll, which makes it convenient to travel. If you want to get northwest to Leander or south to the airport, you won't have much trouble.
