What is Anthem in Kyle?
Anthem is a master-planned community in Kyle, Texas, spread over roughly 422 acres and planned for about 1,500 homes. It has a resort-style pool, an elementary school right inside the community, and new homes that still start around $260,000 (resale from about the same). You are roughly 20 to 30 minutes from downtown Austin off I-35, in one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the metro. It is a strong pick if you want new construction, real amenities, and Kyle pricing, and you are fine with a commute.

Who builds at Anthem
The current builder lineup at Anthem is:
I will be straight with you here, because that is the whole point of working with me. Of these four, DRB is one I have worked with directly (it is in the mid tier on my builder list). Newmark, Risewell, and Clark Wilson I have not personally closed a deal with yet, so I am not going to pretend to rate them from experience. What I will do is walk their models with you, ask the right questions on warranty and incentives, and give you my honest read as we go. And remember, the builder pays your agent's commission, so having me in your corner at the model costs you nothing.
The amenities and the lifestyle
Anthem is built around bringing neighbors together, and the amenity package is a real draw:
- A resort-style pool with a beach entry, a lap area, and room to relax, plus an open-air pavilion.
- Community gardens and a fruit orchard, parks, trails, fire pits, and wide open spaces.
- Pickleball and bocce courts, soccer fields, a playground, and a clubhouse.
- A lifestyle director who organizes events all year so you actually get to know your neighbors.
- Green space that backs to a 250-acre nature preserve, which is rare for a community at this price.
And you do not have to drive into Austin to have a good time. Kyle gives you golf at Plum Creek, EVO Entertainment for movies and bowling, a growing lineup of local restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries, and the Texas Pie Company for something sweet. Wimberley and Jacob's Well are a short drive for a weekend out.
Schools: Hays CISD
Anthem is served by Hays CISD, and one of its best features for families is that there is an elementary school right inside the community. That means shorter mornings, kids who can walk or bike to school, and a stronger neighborhood feel. From there, students continue into Hays CISD middle and high schools.
Because Hays CISD is growing fast, attendance zones shift and can split by section, so always confirm the current middle and high school zoning for your exact address. I am glad to pull that for any lot you are considering. For the full district picture, see my Hays CISD notes in the Kyle relocation guide.
Location, growth, and the honest trade-offs
Kyle sits right on I-35 between Austin and San Antonio, two of the fastest-growing cities in Texas, and that position is a big reason buyers keep looking here. The value story is real too: Kyle home prices have climbed a lot over the past decade, which is exactly why getting in now, rather than continuing to rent, tends to pay off.
Two honest trade-offs. First, the commute. Anthem sits on the west side of Kyle, so plan on roughly 20 to 30 minutes to downtown Austin when traffic is reasonable, and more at rush hour. If you drive in daily, test your real route at your real hour before you commit. Second, the taxes. Anthem carries a higher combined tax rate because it sits in a district, so know your exact rate per lot before you fall in love with a floor plan. My MUD and PID guide shows how to check any address.
If you want new construction with genuine amenities, an elementary your kids can walk to, and Kyle pricing that still starts affordably, Anthem is one of the stronger plays on the west side. The trade is the commute and the higher tax rate, both worth weighing honestly. Want my read for your budget and situation? Meet Brandon Holley
I have filmed the communities and closed the new-construction deals across Kyle, Buda, Bastrop, and South Austin, with 175+ closings since 2016. Anthem is one I have toured more than once, and new construction is most of what I do. I will give you a straight read on the builder and section that fit you, help you weigh the incentives, and stand in your corner at the model home, which costs you nothing because the builder pays your agent.
