One of the most affordable new-construction communities I cover, just outside Kyle and built by CastleRock and D.R. Horton. New homes start around $240,000, the HOA is low, and the location is hard to beat: an HEB, Costco, Target, and plenty of dining are all within three miles. Here is the honest local rundown, what it costs, and who it fits. 175+ closings since 2016.
Paramount is an affordable new-construction community just outside Kyle, about 27 miles south of Austin, with new homes built by CastleRock and D.R. Horton. New homes start around $240,000, and resale starts around $250,000, which makes it one of the lowest entry points I show anywhere. The real hook here is convenience: an HEB, Costco, Target, and plenty of dining are all within three miles, the HOA is a low $420 a year, and the tax rate is a moderate 2.17%. If your priority is getting into a new home affordably with everything close by, this one is worth a serious look.
Tour a model and the area with me. This walk-through is from 2024, so treat the builder and pricing below as current, not what is in the video:
New construction at Paramount is built by CastleRock Communities and D.R. Horton. On my builder list, CastleRock is a solid mid-tier option worth a look, and D.R. Horton sits in the affordable, high-volume tier. I will give it to you straight on D.R. Horton: they are not a luxury-finish builder, but they build a lot of home for the money, and I have sold many of their homes with most owners happy in them. Between the two builders you get real range in plans and price, and there are usually move-in-ready inventory homes if you want to settle in fast. On the resale side, you will also see earlier homes here from Brightland, DRB, and Chesmar, so I can help you compare a brand-new build against a gently used one.
Paramount wins on value and location, which is a rare combination this close to the amenities:
The area around Kyle keeps growing too, with more retail on the way, so the convenience only gets better.
The tax rate here runs a moderate 2.17%, which is reasonable for a newer Kyle community, and the HOA is a low $420 a year. Always confirm the certified tax rate for your specific lot, my MUD and PID guide shows how, so you know your real monthly number. Paramount is served by Hays CISD, with children attending Kyle Elementary, Laura B. Wallace Middle School, and Jack C. Hays High School. For the wider picture, see my Kyle relocation guide and the Kyle new construction guide, and if you like the affordable-Kyle profile, compare it with Southgrove. Confirm the exact campus zoning for your specific lot before you offer.
The builders run incentives here, like rate buydowns and closing-cost help, and they usually have a handful of inventory homes ready to go. The specifics change often and are tied to particular homes and timelines, so what matters is how a given incentive changes your actual monthly payment, not the flashiest number on the flyer. Reach out before you visit on your own and I will tell you what is current and run the payment scenarios for your budget. Contact me or call (512) 487-9242.

Kyle is one of my core markets, and new construction is most of what I do, with 175+ closings since 2016 across South Austin, Buda, Kyle, and Bastrop. I have toured Paramount firsthand and closed plenty of D.R. Horton buyers, so I will help you pick the floor plan that fits you, confirm the current builder and inventory, run the real payment scenarios including taxes and incentives, and stand in your corner at the model, which costs you nothing because the builder pays your agent.
